Havening Technique
A gentle way to reduce emotional intensity and feel more in control

Havening is a neuroscience-based technique that works with the brain and nervous system to help reduce the emotional impact of difficult experiences.
It supports the brain in “de-linking” strong emotional responses, so situations that once felt overwhelming begin to feel more manageable, calmer, and less reactive.

What Havening can help with
Havening is particularly effective for:
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Feeling constantly overwhelmed or “on edge”
  • Emotional triggers or strong reactions
  • Past experiences that still feel unresolved
  • Confidence and self-doubt
  • Habit patterns linked to emotional responses

How it works

When something stressful or emotional happens, the brain can hold onto that response — meaning similar situations continue to trigger the same feelings. Havening works with the nervous system to help the brain update that response, so it no longer reacts in the same way.
The result is often a noticeable reduction in emotional intensity, along with a greater sense of calm and control.

What a session feels like

Sessions are calm, gentle, and guided.
Havening involves light touch (such as on the arms, hands, or face) combined with specific techniques that help the brain process and settle emotional responses.
Many people notice a shift during the session itself — feeling lighter, calmer, or less affected by something that previously felt significant.

Why choose Havening instead of hypnosis?

While hypnosis is often used for deeper, long-term change, Havening offers a more immediate, body-based way to reduce emotional intensity.
It can be a good option if you:
  • prefer not to use hypnosis
  • feel highly overwhelmed or reactive
  • want something gentle and calming
  • are looking for a focused session on a specific issue

How Havening fits into my work

Havening is one of the techniques I use to support change.
Some clients choose it as a standalone session, while others use it alongside hypnosis as part of a broader approach.
